The Road Into Dursey, West Cork

The Road Into Dursey, West Cork - Munster's Wild Landscape
A late summer rain front squalls over the vernacular landscape of Dursey Island

Dursey Island is one of Ireland's remotest populated areas (population - 6), accessed usually by a short cable car journey over the choppy waters and high cliffs of Dursey Sound. At the tip of the Beara peninsula, it attracts walkers, birdwatchers, fishermen and day-trippers and is the one of the first landfalls for dramatic westerlies from the Atlantic.
